Five scribes stand out in DSPC
            “We made it!”
            Thus, exclaimed by five scribes of “The Achiever”, Official Publication of Libertad National High School in English after series of sleepless nights for practicehad paid off as they stood out during Division Schools Press Conference (DSPC) at Tupi NHS, October 16- 18.
            Student- writers who made it to top 5 were: Chester Ian Pineda- 2ndplacein News Writing, Sheena Pearl Alinsangan- 3rdplacein Feature Writing, Harriete Mae Hembra- 3rdplace in Sports Writing, AdinoJephthahTillaman- 4th place in Editorial Cartooning, and Denise Nicole Ignoro- 5th place in Editorial Writing.
            This year’s DSPC brought challenge for only the top 3 winners in individual events and 1st place in team contests will qualify to join in the Regional Schools Press Conference (RSPC) at General Santos City on October 23- 24, said Mr. Enrique U.Dela Cruz, EPS1 in English.
            The conference is held annually pursuant to R.A 7071 also known as Campus Journalism Act of 1991 which aimed to serve as a forum communicating through a variety journalistic approaches; enhance journalism competencies through friendly individual and group competitions; and demonstrate commitment to the challenges of promoting a responsible journalism.
            Aside from news writing, editorial writing, feature writing, editorial cartooning, copy reading and headline writing, sports writing, and radio broadcasting, the Department of Education trusted in campus journalism the collaborative publishing, new competition in the DSPC.
            There were 976 campus writers and 125 advisers who joined the conference with the theme, “Campus Journalism and Transformational Leadership”.
            “May Pineda, Hembra, and Alinsangan will bring home the bacon in the RSPC, be qualified for the National tilt.” hoped Mrs. Caroline Nogra, “The Achiever” adviser.
